Two time Grammy winner Laurence Juber takes the stage at OTCA on Friday, October 14 at 7:30 pm. He was voted Guitarist of the Year by the readers of Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine and named one of the top acoustic guitar players of all time by Acoustic Guitar Magazine. As the former lead guitarist for Paul McCartney's Wings, Laurence is uniquely qualified to arrange Beatles songs, which he has done to perfection. Juber will feature some of these best-loved melodies from his award winning LJ Plays the Beatles during his concert on October 14th.
Laurence Juber is a world-class guitar virtuoso solo artist, composer and arranger. Fusing folk, jazz, pop and classical styles, he creates a multi-faceted performance that belies the use of only one instrument. He has released 19 albums, including Guitarist and PCH. His LJ Plays The Beatles is one of Acoustic Guitar Magazine's all-time Top Ten acoustic albums.
Chances are you’ve heard Laurence, even if you didn’t know it. His guitar playing is heard on albums, TV shows, commercials and even video games. His arrangement of Stand By Me was heard nationally in the Diamonds Are Forever commercial. His solo rendition of The Pink Panther Theme is featured on the GRAMMY® winning album Henry Mancini-Pink Guitar.
Of his recent releases, Wooden Horses showcases LJ's compositions for solo guitar, while LJ Plays The Beatles Volume 2 is a tour-de-force of pop song arranging. As a studio musician, he can be heard on recent albums from artists as diverse as Dan Hicks & the Hot Licks and Barry Manilow, plus he is featured on the soundtracks to hundreds of TV shows and movies, including the academy award-winning Good Will Hunting.
Juber has also co-composed the soundtrack of the upcoming Blizzard Entertainment video game Diablo 3 and crafted the score to the NBC Dateline documentary Children Of The Harvest, showcased on his latest CD release. His music is also featured in the Ken Burns documentary The Tenth Inning.
